These short-term summer study abroad programs are organized by the partner universities and the University of Tokyo for 500科同利 students. We recruit participants for 5 programs. Some programs are customized for 500科同利 based on programs originally offered at the partner universities. Contents of the programs are lectures, fieldworks, collaboration and interaction with students from the host universities, language classes, cultural experience, and so on. This is the programs that 500科同利 students participate in as a group. There will be mainly only 500科同利 students/Japanese university students in class rooms. The short-term summer study abroad programs are similar to the short-term winter study abroad programs, but the schedule and the host universities are different.
*This program requires students to take the initiative in preparing for their study abroad, including handling application procedures with the host university, purchasing airline tickets, interacting with other participants, and traveling to the destination. While high language proficiency is not necessary during the program, students are expected to act proactively rather than passively, to ensure they have a meaningful time even in an environment surrounded by Japanese students. Please consider applying with these points in mind.

*Until AY2023, we recruited students for “the Summer Courses by Partner Universities ” as well as the Center for Global Education Short-Term Summer Study Abroad Programs. However, currently the Summer Courses by Partner Universities are being advertised as “Direct Application Programs” page
and “Summer Courses by Overseas Universities” page.
*Programs offering opportunities to interact with students from overseas universities on campus are also scheduled to take place. Applications are expected to open in May, and details will be announced on this website and via UTAS.
